Before joining Moreways Healthcare

We have worked with our staff and the people we support to provide clear guidance about what you can expect before joining one of our services.

We will help you understand what to expect before your support begins.

We understand that you may feel unsure or apprehensive about joining one of our services, especially if you have not received support before.

Every person we support is unique, and each of our services works with people who have different needs, preferences and goals. This means that everyone’s experience with Moreways Healthcare will be different.

This page provides general guidance about what you may expect before joining us. We will also give you information that relates specifically to the service you are considering.

  • Getting to know us

People are introduced to our services in different ways. This is known as the referral process. A referral may be made by a local authority, an NHS service, a social worker, a care coordinator or another professional. Depending on the service and funding arrangements, you or someone supporting you may also be able to contact us directly.

After receiving a referral, we will review the available information and, where appropriate, arrange a meeting or assessment. This gives you an opportunity to talk to us about your needs, preferences and what you would like to achieve. It also helps us decide whether the service can provide the right support for you.

As part of the assessment, you may meet members of the Moreways Healthcare team and other professionals involved in your support. With your agreement, someone important to you, such as a family member or advocate, may also be involved.

    Visiting your service

If you are considering moving into one of our services, you may be offered an opportunity to visit beforehand. Where appropriate and possible, you may also be able to meet staff and become familiar with the environment before your support begins.

A visit can help you understand what the service is like and give you another opportunity to ask questions.

It may not always be possible to arrange a visit or meet every person before support begins. If this applies to you, we will explain what will happen and make sure that staff spend time getting to know you when you join.
