Who We Support
Specialist support built around the person
Moreways Healthcare supports adults whose needs may be complex, long-term or difficult to meet within ordinary support arrangements. Our approach combines structured support, positive risk management and a strong focus on independence, stability and meaningful outcomes.

Individual Needs
Support that responds to complexity
The people we support are individuals first. Their needs, histories, strengths, aspirations and risks are different, which means support cannot be reduced to a single model or diagnosis.
Some people may require structured support following a period in hospital or secure care. Others may need help managing mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, autism, behaviours of concern, social isolation or complex risks. Our role is to understand the whole person and develop support that responds proportionately to those needs.
Our approach begins with understanding
-
✓
The person’s assessed needs, strengths and preferences. -
✓
Current and historical risks and how these can be managed safely. -
✓
Communication needs and how the person prefers to be supported. -
✓
Personal goals relating to independence, wellbeing and community life. -
✓
The involvement of commissioners, social workers, families and other relevant professionals. -
✓
The level and type of support required to achieve sustainable progress.
People We Support
Specialist support across a range of needs
We work with adults whose circumstances may require structured, specialist or higher-intensity support, including people whose needs overlap across several areas.
Mental Health
Mental Health Needs
We support adults experiencing complex or enduring mental health needs who may require structure, encouragement, monitoring and practical support to maintain stability and participate in everyday life.
Autism
Autistic People
Support is adapted around communication preferences, sensory needs, routines, predictability and individual strengths, with the aim of reducing unnecessary barriers and increasing choice and independence.
Learning Disabilities
Learning Disabilities
We support people to develop practical skills, participate in decisions and build confidence in everyday life while maintaining the level of assistance required for safety and wellbeing.
Forensic Support
Forensic & Complex Risk
We have experience supporting adults with forensic histories, including people subject to structured risk-management arrangements. Support focuses on stability, appropriate boundaries, relapse prevention, community integration and positive risk management.
Complex Behaviour
Behaviours of Concern
Where behaviour presents risk or distress, we focus on understanding triggers, patterns and unmet needs rather than viewing behaviour in isolation. Support aims to reduce escalation and promote safer, more sustainable alternatives.
Complex Needs
Multiple & Overlapping Needs
Many people do not fit neatly into one category. We support individuals whose mental health, disability, social circumstances, risk, substance use history or previous placement breakdowns may interact and require a coordinated approach.
What Support May Include
Practical support shaped around everyday life
Support is based on assessed need and can change over time as the person’s circumstances, risks and abilities develop.
01
Daily Living
Support may include meal preparation, shopping, maintaining the home, establishing routines and developing practical skills for greater independence.
02
Health & Wellbeing
Staff can support people to maintain appointments, understand health information, follow agreed health plans and recognise changes that may require escalation.
03
Medication Support
Where required within the person’s support arrangement, we provide structured medication support and monitoring in accordance with agreed plans and safe working procedures.
04
Community Access
People are supported to access local services, activities, education, volunteering, social opportunities and other parts of community life that are meaningful to them.
05
Risk Management
Risk plans are translated into practical day-to-day support, with clear expectations, escalation arrangements and regular review as circumstances change.
06
Building Independence
Support aims to develop capability wherever possible, with progress reviewed so that assistance remains proportionate rather than becoming unnecessarily restrictive.
Our Support Pathway
From referral to ongoing support
We take time to understand whether a placement is appropriate before support begins and continue reviewing arrangements once the person has moved in.
Referral
We receive information from the referring professional, authority or relevant care team and establish the person’s current needs, risks and preferred location.
Assessment
A fuller assessment considers support requirements, environmental compatibility, staffing needs, known risks and the person’s own views.
Planning
Where the placement is considered suitable, transition arrangements, support planning and risk-management measures are agreed.
Transition
Transitions are planned according to the person’s needs and may include visits, introductions, information sharing and gradual familiarisation.
Review
Support is reviewed against outcomes, risks, progress and changing needs so the arrangement remains appropriate over time.
The right support should help a person feel safer and more secure while creating genuine opportunities for greater control, confidence and independence.
