Care And Support Roles At Moreways Healthcare

Care and support roles at Moreways Healthcare are focused on helping adults live safely, maintain their homes, develop practical skills and work towards greater independence.

Our colleagues support people with a range of needs, including complex mental health needs, autism, learning disabilities, forensic histories and other circumstances requiring structured, person-centred support.

This is not residential care and our services are not hospitals or care homes. The people we support live in their own homes within supported living settings, and our role is to provide the right level of assistance while respecting their rights, choices, privacy and tenancy.

Every role contributes to creating stable, respectful and professionally managed services where people can build confidence, maintain meaningful routines and participate in community life.

This Is Supported Living

Help People Build Safer And More Independent Lives

A care and support role with Moreways Healthcare combines practical assistance, professional responsibility and meaningful human connection. Every shift is an opportunity to help someone maintain stability, develop skills and move closer to their personal goals.

Person-Centred Support

Understand what matters to each person and provide support in a way that reflects their strengths, needs, preferences and agreed outcomes.

Practical Independence

Help people develop confidence with daily routines, appointments, budgeting, cooking, household responsibilities and community participation.

Professional Responsibility

Follow support plans, maintain accurate records, report concerns promptly and contribute to safe, consistent and accountable service delivery.

What Supported Living Means

Supported living is designed to help people live in their own homes with support that is tailored to their assessed needs. The level and type of assistance varies from one person to another.

Some people may require regular prompting, reassurance and practical guidance. Others may need more structured support because of risks, mental health needs, communication needs or previous experiences of institutional care.

The purpose of support is not to take control of someone’s life. It is to help the individual exercise their rights, make informed choices and develop the skills needed to manage as much of daily life as possible.

Colleagues must balance independence with safety. This includes understanding risk assessments, following agreed plans and recognising when a change in circumstances requires escalation or professional review.

Care And Support Opportunities

Moreways Healthcare recruits for a range of frontline and service-leadership roles. Available positions depend on current vacancies, service needs and the level of responsibility required.

Support Worker

Provides direct person-centred support and helps people work towards greater confidence, stability and independence.

This may be suitable for applicants beginning their career in supported living as well as those with previous experience.

Senior Support Worker

Combines direct support with additional responsibility for shift organisation, handovers, records and guidance to colleagues.

Relevant experience and the ability to model safe and professional practice are normally required.

Team Leader

Supports day-to-day service coordination, staff guidance, communication and implementation of agreed quality standards.

The role requires confidence, sound judgement and the ability to respond appropriately to changing situations.

Deputy Manager

Supports the service manager with staffing, quality monitoring, safeguarding, incident management and professional communication.

Relevant experience and leadership capability are generally required.

Service Manager

Leads the service, maintains operational oversight and supports safe, effective and person-centred delivery.

Responsibilities may include workforce management, governance, audits, safeguarding and professional partnerships.

Bank And Flexible Roles

Some services may recruit colleagues to provide additional cover according to operational requirements.

Availability of bank, temporary or flexible work will be stated within the relevant vacancy information.

Who We Are Looking For

Previous care or support experience can be valuable, but personal values, reliability and willingness to learn are equally important for many frontline roles.

We look for people who can communicate respectfully, remain calm under pressure and follow guidance consistently. Applicants must understand that care and support work involves responsibility, confidentiality and accountability as well as compassion.

Some situations may be challenging. Colleagues need the patience to understand what may be influencing someone’s behaviour, while continuing to follow agreed boundaries and risk-management arrangements.

Compassion

Responding with patience, empathy and understanding while maintaining safe professional boundaries.

Reliability

Attending agreed shifts, completing responsibilities and recognising that people depend on consistent support.

Professionalism

Maintaining confidentiality, accurate records, appropriate conduct and clear accountability.

Teamwork

Sharing relevant information and working constructively with colleagues, managers and professionals.

Working Patterns

Our supported living services operate according to the needs and commissioned arrangements of the people living there. Available roles may therefore include daytime, evening, weekend, bank-holiday or night working.

Shift arrangements will be explained within the vacancy information and discussed during recruitment. Applicants should consider whether they can attend the required working pattern consistently before applying.

Some shifts may be calm and routine. Others may involve responding to changes in wellbeing, behaviour or risk. Colleagues must remain professional, follow escalation procedures and seek management guidance when required.
