Our internship recruitment process is designed to be clear, fair and supportive. We want applicants to understand what to expect, how we assess suitability and which requirements must be completed before a placement can begin.

Moreways Healthcare may consider applications from students and recent graduates studying psychology, forensic psychology, social work, health and social care, criminology, sociology, occupational therapy and other disciplines relevant to supported living and community-based care.

Internships may also be considered within organisational functions such as human resources, recruitment, administration, quality assurance, finance, information technology, data and communications, depending on current needs and available supervision.

Who Can Apply?

Internship enquiries may be considered from individual students, recent graduates, universities and colleges. Availability depends on organisational needs, service suitability and our capacity to provide appropriate supervision.

We are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate professionalism, reliability, respectful communication, curiosity and a genuine interest in social care, supported living or the wider work of Moreways Healthcare.

Psychology And Social Care Students

Applications may be suitable for students studying BSc or MSc Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Social Work, Health and Social Care, Criminology, Sociology, Occupational Therapy or related subjects.

Depending on the placement, students may develop a broader understanding of person-centred support, mental health recovery, safeguarding, risk management, professional documentation and multi-agency working.

Placements do not provide clinical practice, professional accreditation or regulated responsibilities unless this has been expressly agreed and appropriately authorised.

Business And Organisational Interns

Some opportunities may relate to human resources, recruitment, administration, quality assurance, finance, information technology, data, communications or other central functions.

These placements can provide experience of the systems and professional processes that support the safe and effective operation of a social care organisation.

The availability and content of each placement will depend on current projects, departmental capacity and the applicant’s learning objectives.

Application And Initial Review

Applicants should normally provide a current CV and a short supporting statement. Your statement should explain your course or area of study, proposed placement dates, required number of hours, areas of professional interest and what you hope to learn.

We consider whether your objectives are compatible with the experience available and whether we can provide suitable supervision without affecting the quality or safety of our services.

Internship places may be limited. Meeting the general criteria does not guarantee that a suitable placement will be available.

Interview Or Placement Discussion

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an interview or informal discussion. This allows us to understand your interests, learning goals and suitability while giving you an opportunity to ask questions about Moreways Healthcare and the proposed placement.

We may discuss your understanding of social care, safeguarding, confidentiality, ethical conduct and professional boundaries. Applicants for psychology or social care placements may also be asked how they would respond to sensitive information, challenging situations or concerns about a person’s wellbeing.

We do not expect students to have all the answers. We are interested in how you communicate, reflect, respond to guidance and recognise the limits of your own knowledge and responsibilities.

Interns Do Not Replace Employed Colleagues

Internships are learning opportunities. Interns will not be used to replace support workers or other employees and will not undertake clinical, regulated or unsupervised duties for which they are not trained, qualified or authorised.

Any contact with people receiving support must take place within the agreed placement boundaries, with appropriate supervision and respect for each person’s privacy, rights and preferences.

Pre-Placement Requirements

The requirements will vary according to the nature of the internship, the proposed activities and the level of access to services, systems or confidential information.

University And College Placements

Where the internship forms part of an academic programme, applicants should confirm the requirements with their university or college before applying.

Moreways Healthcare may liaise with an education provider to clarify learning objectives, placement hours, supervision arrangements and documentation. Any formal agreement must be reviewed and accepted before the placement begins.

Students remain responsible for confirming whether the placement satisfies their course, module, professional-body or accreditation requirements. An internship with Moreways Healthcare does not automatically provide accredited clinical experience or eligibility for professional registration.

Do I Need Previous Social Care Experience?

Not necessarily. Previous experience can be helpful, but it is not required for every internship. We also consider your motivation, professionalism, communication skills, learning objectives and willingness to follow guidance.

Any essential experience will be explained before applications are invited.

Can BSc Psychology Students Apply?

Yes. We may consider BSc Psychology students where a suitable placement, clear learning purpose and appropriate supervision are available.

Applicants should explain how the proposed experience relates to their studies and confirm any university requirements before applying.

Will I Work Directly With People Receiving Support?

This depends on the type of placement, its agreed objectives and the checks completed. Some internships may include supervised observation or carefully defined activities within our services.

Other placements may focus entirely on administration, research, quality assurance, human resources, information technology or business operations.

Will I Need A DBS Check?

A DBS check is not required for every internship. The need and eligibility for a check depend on the setting, duties and level of contact involved.

Where a check is required, the relevant process must be completed before the placement begins.

Does An Internship Guarantee Employment?

No. Completing an internship does not guarantee paid employment with Moreways Healthcare.

Interns may apply for suitable advertised vacancies in the future where they meet the stated requirements and complete the normal recruitment process.

How Long Does The Process Take?

Timescales depend on placement availability, interview arrangements, university documentation, references, DBS processing and any other required checks.

A proposed start date is not confirmed until all required arrangements have been completed and formally agreed.
