Moreways Healthcare is recruiting an Engagement Worker for a full-time role in London. You will support adults using our specialist supported living and community services to take part in everyday life, work towards goals that matter to them and stay connected with the people and opportunities around them.
This is a practical, relationship-based role. It calls for patience, reliability and the ability to listen, encourage choice and follow each person’s agreed support plan.
About the Engagement Worker role
As an Engagement Worker, you will get to know the people you support and help turn individual plans into useful day-to-day action. That might mean encouraging someone to attend an appointment, helping them develop a routine, supporting an activity in the community or taking time to understand why they are finding engagement difficult. The aim is to build trust and make participation possible at the person’s own pace.
The adults supported by Moreways Healthcare have varied needs and strengths. Depending on the service and individual support plan, you may work with people living with mental health conditions, autism, learning disabilities or other complex needs. You will be part of a wider team and will know when to seek guidance or escalate a concern.
What you will do
- Build respectful, consistent working relationships and encourage each person to express their preferences and goals.
- Support people to engage with activities, services, appointments and community opportunities that are relevant to their individual plans.
- Help people practise everyday skills and routines, such as planning their day, managing appointments, shopping and taking part in home and community life.
- Promote independence by offering the right level of support, rather than taking over tasks a person can do or learn to do.
- Notice changes in wellbeing, behaviour or engagement, record them clearly and share concerns with the appropriate colleague or manager.
- Follow support plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
- Work with colleagues and, where appropriate, families, carers and other professionals to provide joined-up support.
- Keep accurate records of support provided, progress and any incidents or concerns.
What we are looking for
You will bring a compassionate, non-judgemental approach and a genuine interest in helping people participate in their communities. Strong communication, dependable follow-through and clear record keeping matter in this role. You should be comfortable working to agreed plans, respecting confidentiality and asking for support when a situation is outside your responsibility.
Relevant experience in supported living, social care, mental health, learning disability, autism or community support is useful. Transferable experience may also be relevant if you can show the values, judgement and willingness to learn needed for person-centred support. Training and service-specific guidance will help you work safely in the setting to which you are assigned.
Making a difference
Good engagement is not measured simply by attendance at an activity. It means listening to what a person wants, reducing barriers where possible, recognising small steps of progress and helping them build lasting confidence and choice. You will have the opportunity to contribute to that progress while working within Moreways Healthcare’s specialist support services.
